When to take my child to the dentist for the first time?

At two and a half to three years of age, when they have all the primary teeth in their mouths. And from then on the ideal, depending on the child, check-ups every 6 months or yearly. We say every 6 ,months to those children who have had caries, because in children caries progresses faster than in adults. At this stage, the child must learn to brush under adult supervision, sometimes as a game, and at the end, the adult reviews the child to check good hygiene. They should know that every time they eat they should wash their hands first, and their teeth after eating. At 6 years of age, the permanent molars begin to erupt and the first replacement cycle also begins. Every 6 months the revision allows us to control the good replacement and to solve the problems of teeth position. When I talk about replacement, I am referring to the fall of primary teeth and the eruption of the definitive ones. From this age, they are already autonomous in terms of brushing, they only need supervision at the end. From 6 to 12 years of age, they present mixed dentition, an ideal time for orthopedic orthodontics or first stage orthodontic treatments. Here the child is already washing himself and needs less and less adult supervision. Once with adult dentition, from the age of 12, if necessary, orthodontic treatment with braces will be done, and annual check-ups with the corresponding cleaning. Be aware that with adolescence, oral hygiene is neglected and it is necessary to insist again on the adoption of the habit of cleaning the teeth every time you eat.
