Why are dental implants placed in certain cases?

Dental implants are designed to meet the esthetic, masticatory, functional and phonatory needs that are diminished after the loss of natural teeth. Teeth are lost mainly due to diseases affecting the teeth or the structures that support them and to a lesser extent due to fractures and trauma. In the absence of one or more teeth, patients come to the dentist's office requesting a treatment option that solves the esthetic and functional problem in the most conservative way possible, that is, avoiding grinding the adjacent teeth for the preparation of a bridge, and this is only achieved through dental implants.
